Learn more about serving at New Roads
Thanks for requesting to learn more about serving at New Roads! There are many ways to serve at New Roads, and trying out any ministry is a great next step toward growing in faith and discovering your unique spiritual gift. Below are a few ministries to learn more about. See which one sparks your interest, and then reply via text (or send us an email: [email protected]) with the name of the ministry you’d like to explore further and we’ll take it from there! The next step would be to observe a ministry in action one Sunday. In every ministry, our leaders will work with you to find a schedule that works for you.
Tiny Disciples: Tiny Disciples is our ministry to kids ages 2-5. Parents drop off their children in our fun Tiny Disciples room for the duration of Mass (Sundays from 10-11am). Kids get to play, have fun, sing songs, and hear a Bible story and message just for them. Volunteer ministers play with the children, can choose to lead the worship time (reading a story and singing songs), and give parents the gift of focused worship time upstairs. This is a great fit for adults and teens, or serve as a family!
Kids’ Church: Kids’ Church is our Children’s Liturgy of the Word where children in grades K-5 go downstairs for the Liturgy of the Word portion of Mass (~30 minutes). Volunteer ministers engage kids in high energy worship music, a Bible story and message just for kids, small group conversations, arts & crafts, and games too. Our elementary-aged kids LOVE Kids’ Church and the volunteer ministers make it happen. The entire content including games, etc. is planned out by our children’s ministry coordinator in advance so you can focus on connecting with kids and having fun as you serve. This is a great fit for adults and teens!
Greeting Team: Our Greeting Team is all about creating a place where people feel welcomed, known, and loved--they set the atmosphere for our worship together. Greeting is a great ministry for families to do together. Greeting is about opening a door, offering a smile and a word of welcome to all who enter our doors.
Parking Team: Our Parking Team is really an extension of our Greeting Team. Surprisingly, maybe, our parking ministry has almost nothing to do with parking cars! Our parking team is out there rain or shine communicating with their presence, “We’ve been expecting you. We’re waiting for you. We want you here!”
Info Team: Our Info Team staffs the Info Desk which is a place for newcomers to be welcomed and have all their questions answered. Ministers who serve at the info desk are equipped with information and answers to common questions. Sometimes our ministers lead tours of our space or share with newcomers what New Roads is all about. If you are passionate about the New Roads mission, this might be a great fit for you!
Creative Tech: Our Creative Tech team manages all of the behind the scenes technology to make our modern Mass happen each week, in person and online. Ministers serve in person in one of four stations: lighting, lyrics, video switcher, or camera operator. You can also serve online as a chat host in our church online platform or on Facebook. Creative Tech is a great fit for folks who like to be behind the scenes and who have a good eye for detail. Absolutely zero tech background is required–we’ll teach you everything you need to know! And we promise: it’s all fairly simple to learn.
Other: Still not sure? Have another skill to offer? See something else that needs to be done? Let us know! We’d love to chat about other ways to serve at New Roads. There is something for everyone!

Our desire is that through your service at New Roads, you will feel three things:
- Significant--that you see the tangible impact your service makes. That you were equipped to contribute in a meaningful way to the team; you didn't just "play" church, but actually participated in making church matter. That you saw how the ministry contributes to the greater mission of the Church.
- Honored--that your time, your presence, and your desire to serve are highly valued as the gifts they are. Your serving is celebrated as part of your growth as disciples. You saw how your unique experiences contributed to a better functioning team. You were thanked and encouraged.
- Connected--that you were involved in the camaraderie of the ministry, especially the enthusiasm for the mission of New Roads. Leaders were ready for your arrival and eager to get to know you. You got to interact with guests and were encouraged to pray with the team.
