How our program works
Our program is organized through monthly workshops in which both the child and at least one parent participates. The workshops are 90 minutes in length. Please choose the time on the registration form linked below that works best for your family. In addition to the workshops, it is our sincere hope and expectation that families who are preparing their children for Reconciliation and Eucharist will join us regularly for worship on Sundays.
Please also note the following celebrations during the year:
Sacramental Preparation Coffee and Donuts will be on Sunday, November 3, 2024 following the 10:30am Mass at St. Joseph.
The Reconciliation Celebration will be on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 9:00am at St. Joseph South Worship Space.
The First Eucharist Masses will be on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:00am & 1:00pm at St. Joseph South Worship Space.
All of our sacramental preparation workshops and celebrations are based at St. Joseph, where we have invested in creating a modern environment in which we celebrate our ancient tradition. We care deeply about being a growing and engaging community, and our worship experience reflects this mission. Through the workshops, you’ll learn more about our approach and vision. If you haven’t experienced a Mass at St. Joseph in the South Worship Space, we would love for you and your family to join us for worship on a Sunday. We also offer Kids’ Church (grades K-5) at St. Joseph (from September through June) where your child can meet others preparing to receive the sacraments and learn all about forming a deeper connection with Jesus. (For younger siblings, check out Tiny Disciples for kids ages 2-5.)
If you have multiple children preparing for the sacraments, please complete and submit a separate form for each child. The sacramental preparation fee is $100 for each child. Financial assistance is available if needed. If you have any questions about our program or problems filling out the registration form, please email Maria LeBlanc or call 617-484-0279 ext. 22.

What parents are saying:
The year-long Reconciliation and Eucharist preparation exceeded my expectations. My son walked away from the workshops with the sense that God was on his side (his words!), and I'm grateful for this gift. The outcome is so different from what I experienced as a child, as was the process. As a parent, I appreciated that the New Roads team met us where we are in so many ways. It was a completely judgment-free zone; they were clear that no matter where you were in your faith journey - from skeptic to regular mass-goer to both at the same time - your family was welcome. They said the words, and their actions echoed this. The fact that the workshops were well-planned and deliberate showed to me that the team understood how busy modern families are. They met us there.
-Kristen, parent of child in 2022-23 program
The sacramental prep program took us on a journey that rekindled our love for God and the Church and brought us closer to this wonderful community. Not only did the program prepare our daughter for Reconciliation and First Eucharist, but it also deepened our own faith. We remain thankful to Fr. Thom and all volunteers that made the program so special and memorable for us. -Ryan & Malora, parents of child in 2022-23 program
I appreciated the classes because it made me ask some questions to myself that I have not thought about in a long time. And it was a low pressure way to start a conversation with my son that I wouldn’t have otherwise known how to start. I think it brought us closer and deepened our relationship with God. -Jim, parent of child in 2022-23 program
