FAQs about worship in person
Are masks required?
Following guidance from the State of Massachusetts and the Archdiocese of Boston, masks are no longer required for fully vaccinated people, but are always welcome and respected on our campuses. Masks are advised for non-vaccinated people.
What about social distancing?
For the comfort and safety of all, we are practicing social distancing of at least 3 feet on our campuses.
Is registration required?
Registration is not required for any of our in-person Masses.
Can I choose where I sit?
Yes! At St. Joseph in the south worship space, rows have been spaced out. We simply ask that you leave space (2 empty seats) between you and the next family or individual in your row. At St. Luke, every other pew is available for seating.
Can my kids come too?
Of course! We love kids at New Roads and they are always welcome here. Our in-person children’s worship experiences (Tiny Disciples and Kids’ Church) are on a break over the summer as they usually are, but we are planning to resume our children’s worship experiences this fall.
Can we sing at Mass?
Yes. Sing away!
How will communion work?
At the time of communion, you will be invited to come forward maintaining social distance. Please follow the instructions of the priest and/or hospitality minister. Eucharistic ministers will wear masks while distributing communion and sanitize their hands immediately prior to distributing communion.
What other safety measures are in place?
We care deeply about your safety. Our facilities are thoroughly cleaned each week and hand sanitizer will be available in several locations for easy access. We will have extra masks available for anyone who requests one. If we become aware that a COVID-positive person has attended one of our Masses in person, there will be an announcement posted to our Website and shared on our email list.
What if I'm feeling sick?
If you feel sick, have recently had a fever or any symptoms of COVID-19, or if you have been in contact with someone with COVID-19, please join us online instead.

Music is an essential part of our worship experience. Our goal is to offer inspiring, prayerful music at all Masses, which encourages participation and helps all members of the congregation enter more fully into an encounter with God.
