Ministry to Young Children
Great with little kids? Check out our many opportunities to volunteer with kids ages 2-9, including Tiny Disciples, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and Reconciliation and Eucharist workshops.
Tiny Disciples
Adult and teen volunteers play, sing, pray, and share stories with children ages 2-5 at Tiny Disciples, a weekly worship opportunity that takes place at the same time as, but in a different space from, the Sunday Mass. Currently Tiny Disciples is offered at the 10:00am Mass at St. Joseph and the 11:30am Mass at St. Luke.
Each week, one volunteer serves as Storyteller, and other volunteers serve as Assistants. The Storyteller leads the worship portion of Tiny Disciples, which includes a simple discussion of the week’s message, a book, and a song. The Storyteller role is filled by an adult or a teen who has been confirmed. Assistants can be filled by anyone age 14 and up.

Children's Liturgy of the Word
Volunteers offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00am Mass at St. Luke and the 10:00am Mass at St. Joseph each week as an opportunity for children ages 5 and up to worship in a meaningful and age-appropriate way. Children come to Mass with their families, but then gather in a separate space to listen to the weekly readings from the Children’s Lectionary, hear an age-appropriate message based on the readings and the adult message for the week, and pray the Creed and Prayers of the Faithful, before returning to Mass for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
There are three volunteer roles for Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Leader, Reader, and Assistant. The Leader role is filled by an adult or a teen who has been confirmed. The Reader and Assistant roles can be filled by anyone age 10 and up.
If you are interested in serving in Children’s Liturgy of the Word, please contact us at [email protected]. Reconciliation and Eucharist workshops
Adult and teen volunteers are critical to the success of our Reconciliation and Eucharist workshops. There are a total of five parent-child workshops throughout the year to prepare for these two sacraments, and each workshop is offered two to four times. The workshops feature a mix of conversation, prayer, and hands-on activities, offered separately to parents and children. Volunteers assist members of the pastoral service team with welcoming families and running activities for children.
If you are interested in volunteering for one or more of the Reconciliation and Eucharist workshops, please contact us at [email protected].
